What to expect in a mama and child yoga class
You don't need to have done yoga before. You don't need to be fit, flexible or have a cooperative baby. These sessions are designed around the reality of life with a little one — noise, wriggling, feeds, and all.
A typical session runs for around 45 minutes and moves through:
- A gentle warm-up for you both, following a simple story or theme
- Yoga shapes and movements babies and toddlers can join in with (or watch with amusement)
- Breathing exercises and mindfulness moments for you as the adult
- A short, guided relaxation to close — the bit most mums say they look forward to all week
There's no pressure to follow along perfectly. If your baby needs feeding, feeding happens. If your toddler would rather bounce than stretch, that's fine too. The mat is a safe space, not a performance.
Who the classes are for
If you're unsure which class suits your child's age, just ask — we'll point you in the right direction.
Babies (3–12 months)
Gentle assisted stretches, baby massage-inspired movements and nurturing breathing exercises for mum. Lovely for bonding and supporting early sensory development.
Crawlers and early walkers (9–18 months)
Sessions designed around the chaos of newly mobile babies. Short movement bursts, songs and simple yoga shapes that work with where your little one is developmentally.
Toddlers (18 months–3 years)
More story-led, with animal poses, action songs and simple breathing games. Toddlers who can follow a short sequence absolutely love these sessions — and so do their mums.
